My wife, being Mexican, would probably opt for something Irish, and related to the San Patricios lol ;) Actually, I'm not really sure. I'll have to ask her when she gets home

My wife, aka the Luminous Joan abhors tartan, generally. She won't touch my MacNaughton or Hall tartans. I bought her a sportkilt in the MacKenzie tartan as she has Scottish ancestors of the surname "Smart" which apparently is a sept of the MacKenzies. Fortunately it only cost me something like $19 as the rest was a certificate and award for placing 2nd in my class at the Woodland Highland Games.
She owns a lovely wool kilt skirt in Dress Blue Stewart, and has worn it once or twice but generally speaking, hates it.

Sad to say my wife has so far resisted my efforts to get her to wear tartan.
Before we were married I bought her a bolt of cloth in Gordon Dress (it was available at a nearby shop at a good price), but it has remained on the shelf ever since.
After I acquired my kits I bought her a pashmina in 13oz Namibia tartan (her father loved his time in that country), but she complains that it is too light to keep her warm.
So I bought her a shawl in Ulster Red (16oz) because her father’s grandfather was from Antrim, but she suddenly decided (or more accurately, told me of an old dislike) that she would not wear red.
I plan to purchase a shawl or pashmina in 16oz Platt tartan (she is descended from a family of that name), but I really have no idea what she will do with it.
Meanwhile she has constant complaints about my kilts, and refuses to go out with me when I am wearing one (which makes little difference right now as I cannot wear them – a situation soon to be remedied).
I like to see a woman wearing either her husband’s tartan or one connected with her own family – or indeed any other appropriate tartan.
It looks good to see a whole family wearing the same tartan (and even better if they wear them in different colour sets), but diverse tartans are also fine by me.
And I hope McElmurry doesn’t mind that I come from nowhere between Baffin Island and Tierra del Fuego

My lovely Korean wife wears both my Keith (father's side) as well as my mum's Ross Htg.

I must say you wear that kilt very well, it's truly a fine look you show here, but she wears it better. My 2 cents.

My wife has ordered a sash with the Welsh Davis tartan. Davis was her maiden name.

For those of us with spouses that don't wear tartan, my sympathies. My wife (Mississippi born and bred) is allergic to wool but also jests, "If it ain't made of Cotton and from the Delta, it ain't Southern enough for my skin." The things we endure for Love's sake.

Convince her that PV was a Southern invention....
