When wearing the kilt and sporran, I reduce what I carry to suit the sporran. I've just done a 5 day music festival, kilted each day(very casual during the day, more dressy at night(cause it was cold there)). The wallet and house keys get locked in the car. I use a small leather coin purse inside the sporran containing one credit card, some folded notes and whatever loose change I have, it saves having loose stuff floating around the bottom of the sporran. Usually the shirt/jacket I'm wearing has a pocket for the phone, else I'm carrying a small backpack anyway.
