I see Indians (both types actually) regularly but the Sari wearing ones are usually the elderly Mom/Grandmas and not the 'Kids' (20's, 30's). The exception is very recent immigrants but that does not last.
From perusing different threads here it appears (Food for Thought) that Scot 'youngers' still wear a kilt occasionally for no real special event....unless, by that survey, there are numerous Scots special events.

Any event can be regarded as "special" if the kilt-owner is so inclined! In addition there are a large number of pipe band performances and competitions so that, on any weekend, a considerable number of males (and females) will be kilted. Add to that the very popular ceilidh dances (weekly, for example, in most universities) and for which the kilt is commonly worn. So, although those of us who wear the kilt 16/7 are indeed in a small minority, the kilt is by no means absent from commonplace experience via family and friends.

Indeed, I find every day to be "special", so "kilt-up" whenever I feel like it....
Today, being Easter, is another "special" occasion to be kilted.
Btw... Happy Easter to all, from Calgary!
    Cheers...

I "kilt up" for certain events mostly: Scottish events, some festivals, new year eve (also my wedding anniversary), my clubs awards night etc.

This last weekend was a 5 day music festival, I was kilted each day (one reproduction Buchanan, one Black Stewart) choosing between casual for the days (T-shirt/hiking boots with heavy socks) or semi dress for the evenings. I had a good find at a vintage clothing stand with a greenish tweed jacket in good condition for $38, it compliments the green tones in the Buchanan tartan nicely. There were few kilts about, there was a Scottish Ball on the Friday night with some great Scottish fiddlers etc.
One different experience though, while entering a venue the door attendants eyes flicked up and down quickly over me while approaching. Then the attendant says to me "Men in kilts rock, but you already knew that, right?" I smiled, but he wasn't really my type, compliment accepted though. My wife just laughed when I told her.

And it was just a Navy merino wool T-shirt, Repro Buchanan Tartan kilt, leather day sporran, heavy wool socks and black lace up leather boots.
