The Tattoo is not the only event to be separated from what has previously been Tartan Week. I was jsut at Whiskey Live which had always been the Wednesday before the parade, but was instead this past Wednesday.

As for the Tattoo, I am kind of glad to see it on a different day from the parade, as last year we had to choose the Tattoo or the Post Parade Party. At least this year one can go to both if they choose.

Actually, I gave him my sgian bru! I had planned my approach to get to him knowing security would be present. As i approached Mr. MacTavish, a burly suited guy approached me. I told him him I had a wee gift for Mr. MacTavish tell him that sgian was not a knife, but a bootle opener. He smiled went to Mr MacTavish to ask and he nodded. I told Mr. MacTavish that this wee gift is one he can wear in his sock legally in NYC. He grinned and thanked me and and agreed to be photograhed with me. You can see it in his hand. Peter Graves would have been proud.

Special thanks to my support team in this mission; Alan, XMTS, AFS1970 who suggested we try the Algonquin Hotel which was a sponsor my GF, Sharon who spotted him drinking his tea surrounded by admiring ladies in the lobby

Brilliant ploy, did you plan it or was it spur of the moment? Delighted it worked either way.
If you are going to do it, do it in a kilt!

Definitely planed, tpa. I awoke in the morning the day before with it in my head.

Only if the message self-destructed in five seconds.

Very nice and good idea. Bet it was a great time.
You can't put a wee knife in your hose in NYC?
