    For better or for worse the black Argyll has been the standard piper's dress for decades now, and being a piper that's what I usually wear for piping at weddings or funerals or what have you.

    I have rebelled against the standard pipe band sporran that the vast majority of pipe bands wear- oh, I have one, and I have to wear it in the band- but I display my love for vintage Highland Dress by wearing a 100 year old cantle on a new goathair body which imitates a typical late Victorian/Edwardian look. That and the 100 year old pipes. This is how I appear at most gigs, more or less



    I actually prefer dressing like this, and do when I think I can get away with it



    BTW here's the black Argyll being worn by a piper many years ago
