Dirk had no idea I would be in a kilt. But, He never even blinked. I guess that is what makes a true friend.
Never a truer word said. I like you Wil have several very close and true friends ... all married with grown up children. We all went out together to rock concerts/partying etc when we were teenagers, went to each others engagement parties and to each others weddings. We see each other a few times a month even now to go to concerts (this week its Uriah Heap and in two weeks time Deep Purple)and we meet up for regular beers in some of the real ale pubs around the area. From the first time any one of them seen me in my kilt, I might as well had been wearing my jeans. If I see them while wearing my jeans they never ask me where my kilt is .. if I'm in my kilt they never ask me where my jeans are. They simply take me as me and I take them as them. The last few weeks I have worn my kilt more than ever and have to definitely agree that as long as one is confident and simply carrying on with life in a normal manner 99.99% of people are'nt interested... well certainly not around my neck of the woods (thats Wales). The other evening we walked my wifes friend home. As we were walking down one road there was a bunch a teenagers, male and female catching up with us rapidly. I thought wait for it .. it won't be long before the comments start. They just overtook us and kept chatting to themselves .. they did'nt stare, did'nt look back... I guess they must think a guy in a kilt is just simply a guy in a kilt. Nothing special in that. Derek
