Kilts on cruise ships

Has anyone worn a kilt on formal nights on cruise ships? I am going a cruise next April and I am planning
to wear my kilt to the formal dinner evenings. Will that be too much formal?

I've also worn my kilt on formal nights on two cruises, as it's part of my only formal outfit. If you are thinking about how you might "fit in," you can always check out online how the cruise line/ship you're traveling on defines "formal night." I suspect that you'll be much appreciated if you go kilted. Just watch out for the wind on deck!

Well met new friend. As the Prof. and Arnot have pointed out it has and will be done. Kilting on a cruise, especially "formal dinners" seems natural. Take a bow tie and really liven up the evening. Welcome from Oxford, MS.

I've done it and had a great response, including requests for photos with women of all ages. Only practical consideration is luggage space.

I don't know who you are cruising with but this quote comes from the P&O advice site related to black tie evenings: "You can also wear formal national dress and army uniform." I would say that any cruise line which deemed a kilt unacceptable does not deserve your custom. Definitely go for it.

I am planning a cruise for this summer and plan on wearing my kilt for at least one formal night*with black tie) and perhaps even during another less formal dinner service. I do need to check on the sgian dubh though. Fair winds!
