Another Kilted Friday. Today I am in my Stillwater wool Blackwatch. Started the day at the doctors office for a routine checkup and now at the office. Previously at the office this week I have worn my Khaki Alt.Kilt and Heritage of Ireland. 3 of 5 work days and 4 of 6 this week. Well on my way to full time kilting.

Out kilted today, I met a couple of elderly ladies, one who commented that she loved a man in a kilt, as I was saying thank you, the other asked if I was a "true" Scotsman.....to which I replied "of course I am, I drink Scots whisky."
    We all chuckled....

Today was National Peace Officers Memorial Day, and a cool thing happened. I stopped to pipe over lunch at a nearby marina. It was a beautiful day, and I stood at the point of land where the boats come and go from the bay to the docks. As I played "Lament for Sgt. Mackenzie," the sheriff's department boat passed by on its way out for a fisheries patrol. I got the thumbs up from the officers onboard.

Simple pleasures like that are one reason I wanted to learn to play in the first place.

Friday was the start of the Dayton Hamvention. This is a large Amateur Radio convention. This was my 45th year of continuous attendance. I have been attending this event in kilts for at least the last five years. There were two guys in Utilikilts at one of the vendor booths. They were there last year. I ran into another guy that was there last year in his 5.11 kilt. Saw a fourth guy in a Utilikilt but did not get a chance to talk to him. So that is five of us in kilts this year. I was wearing one of my USAKilts.

For Kilted Friday, I wore my Burnett's & Struth casual in modern Malcolm tartan. In the afternoon I was on a walkabout doing a property inspection. A visiting lady pulled over her in her mini-van to say she loved my kilt. Then I got a quick story on her Scots-Irish background.

A little further, I saw two of our residents talking to a gal in a skirt who was having a challenging time keeping her skirt down due to the windy day. I called to them in a cheery manner saying 'some of us having a hard time ensuring our modesty.' The female resident called back to me saying, 'don't you bother when you walk by Tessie's house!'

It was windy here on the tops yesterday too, so squatting down was the safest option for a picture.

If you are going to do it, do it in a kilt!

Thank you Rigby. It is actually quite a challenge some days to get a half decent picture as I am usually on my own. I do not carry a tripod, because one heavy enough to resist the wind would be too heavy to carry comfortably, so I usually have to rely on placing the camera on top of my camera bag and hoping I can get a picture before it blows over, which happens quite frequently. The consequent low angle also provides interesting challenges and more than a few end up in the recycle bin for reasons I'm sure I need not go into.
If you are going to do it, do it in a kilt!

This is me going out to a large flea market held twice a year in Canton, MS. Had several good comments about my USMC kilt and one elderly lady i heard but did not see stated 'look someone scottish like me". By the way tap I had to take the picture several times on a tripod and in delayed timer mode.

I am not surprised there are other Scots in Canton. A fine Southern belle would certainly point you out to another. Good looking flashes with the kilt also.
