G'day From Melbourne Australia
Hi everyone.
I'm a mad keen sewer from Downunder who is always looking for a fun project. I came across some rather yummy pictures of men in Utilikilts one day and thought why not? The recipients of my first two attempts were happy but I was not.
Further research led me to this forum and the brilliant X Kilt instructions.
I've made at least six so far for myself and friends... A mix of box pleats and reverse Kingussie. For males I like the box pleat, on myself the RevK as I find it sits better over my ample curves!
I'm not terribly interested in traditional kilt wear, I appreciate the style and history as I have been a long time sewer of historical garments and volunteering at a local museum in the clothing & textile department.
I'm planning on taking over Melbourne one kilt at a time in the modern, funky, casual style. (So far I'm doing rather well)
Yes that really is a Hello Kitty box pleated XKilt in my avatar... I'm just not capable of being serious, so I apologise in advance if my style offends anyone! I shall perhaps add trigger warnings if I post any pictures.
I look forward to participating in the forum.

Well met my Lady. Thank goodness you accept that you don't take too many things seriously. On this forum the kilt is one thing that is taken seriously. BUT! the views and opinions of every member is worthy and explored with such kindness and mirth. We will be glad to have your input. Posting photos is truly encouraged. Welcome from Oxford, Mississippi.

Hi Lady Grey,
It is nice to have another lady making kilts - we are slightly outnumbered here, mind you I think Barb makes enough for at least a dozen of us. Saving money is a great incentive, but then the joy of stitching takes over and then they can't leave the needles alone...

Welcome from the highlands of central Massachusetts, New England, USA here in the northern hemisphere. Sounds like you have a really interesting life there. When Melbourne becomes a kilt capitol I will find a way to come visit!
