Morning,I'm a long time lurker who joined to answer this question.
As I'm of Manx decent and in Melbourne I couldn't resist.
Yes as a traditionally worn sporran and kilt it's mmmmm?? and far to matchy-matchy.
However... For casual/contemporary/non traditional wear, I love it!
I was in Rivers Boronia on Tuesday searching for a pair of black boots with a client to wear with his Cammo Xkilt that I've just made him. There were some navy suede chunky desert boots on the clearance rack.
They would look fabulous with your kilt and navy sporran. Given the cost of a Manx Kilt I would want to get as much wear as possible from it, so a bargain pair of boots that work with the kilt and sporran would be a bonus.
Any hint on where we Manx get together in Melbourne? I'd love to see the tartan in person.
Ok I'm off to the introduction thread!

Sure, brown and black are the "traditional" sporran colours, but you've done a such great job on the sporran bag, I'd wear it with pride. I personally like it with the blues of your kilt, but then, I like brown shoes with a kilt as well for day wear, not sure about blue shoes however, unless your name is Elvis.
Cheers

Looks like something Elton John would wear on stage.

With stage lights on that outfit, I would hope the audience would be given goggles to prevent snow blindness

As a former Navy man that was required to wear undress whites during the summer months I hate to think of what that white outfit would look like at the end of the day. That being said I think it is a handsome outfit, I just don't know where one would wear it.

I think his flashes have too much colour!
I also think I could wear it,
But I can't think of the occasion to wear it, may be if the bride wore Black?
any other time I can't afford the cleaning bill.

Since I wore a white Saxon suit for my wedding, I was quite drawn to the “snow-blind” picture.
But the all-white effect is a bit much. I would have gone for a less fancy coat (the hanging open style is not “me”), and a sporran in a grey shade, perhaps (that said, my smart sporran is white . . . long story).
And I probably would not have worn a white kilt, either. White hose, maybe (although I am not fond of white hose).

[QUOTE=OC Richard;1289672]Gorgeous sporran, gorgeous kilts. It all looks great to me, though of course you traditionally wouldn't have a blue sporran.
If I had a blue sporran I'd wear it with a kilt that didn't have a load of blue in it. What pops into my "eye" is how nice that blue sporran would look with a saffron kilt. (Complimentary colours and all that)]
Hi Cameron,
I was thinking the same thing as OC Richard. A blue bag like that would look splendid accompanied with a saffron or ochre coloured tartan. Australia tartan for instance?
So don't be hasty; non-traditional it maybe, but I am sure it would look fantastic in the right combination.
all the best,
John

I know that my double X chromosome confers a far greater sensitivity to shades of blue than those with a single one can normally aspire to - and the camera and lighting alter colours anyway - but - matching?
I might go for toning - in poor light.

That my apply to many males Anne. However I'm a commercial illustrator, so I have a very heightened sense of hue and shade differentiation. .
