Worst Reviews of Scottish Landmarks

Actually I have heard of car henge, a friend has a picture of it in his living room. From a distance, and a few glasses of wine, it looked very realistic the first time I saw it.

Don't misunderstand...I understand this is all a good bit of fun and humorous, everyone having a laugh. Having said that I am a regular contributor to TripAdvisor and use the sight quite frequently. Any review I have ever written is screened before it ever gets posted. I am thinking someone might be having a wee bit of fun with a graphics program, and perhaps these are not legit posts? I only mention this so someone unfamiliar with the site does not think TripAdvisor is a poor resource for travel info. I have gotten plenty of good info and tips there.

It's been done , now Stonehenge visitor centre has been moved further away from the Rings themselves, this is required to get to the henge!

I remember going on a school trip to Stonehenge as a kid, in those days we were allowed to walk right up to the stones and clamber about on them.

As to Scotland I think the Corries Scottish Holiday should be required listening

The "Portree Kid" by the Corries is another well worth a listen. I had the privilege to hear them sing it live and have laughed out loud whenever I have heard it since. Those from North America may recognise the tune, but probably not the words!

I used to cycle down there with my mates, as we lived nearby and also remember clambering around, Not having to pay to get in.
On September 21 this year it will be 100 Years since Sir Cecil Chubb bought the Henge after the Heir to the Local estate (Edmund Antrobus who would have been the 5th Baronet) was killed during WW1 and the estate sold off.
In 1918 Sir Cecil presented the Henge to the Nation, English Hertiage who now run the site, and still honour the agreement which gives 30,000 local people the right to free entrance.

It is in the eye of the beholder...I see more in the pictures than the poster(s) did.

At Little Round Top, on the Gettysburg battlefield, you are simply on a small forested hill with a monument and some plaques. Visually like many small hills.

If you know your history and what really happened there that little hill comes alive...you can see and hear the 20th Maine and Col. Joshua Chamberlain fighting until they run out of ammunition....then fixing bayonets and charging because they were so well led.

What really happened there was the saving of our Nation....

I suspect one of the posters from that site would say...tree's and a hill...boring.

Well, these may or may not be actual quotes from real live travellers, but trust me, I've heard enough similar mind boggling comments from my own friends and family , that nothing would surprise me.

I work for a bank and say almost on a weekly basis that people should have to take an IQ test before they are allowed to have a credit card. The same could well be said of some folks applying for a passport.

It's clear that these commenters are people with no appreciation for history or culture .
Many people in my area see Valley Forge as just some fields hills & cabins or as a short cut on the drive home . They do not have the heart soul mind or what ever it is needed to see into past the hardships & battles that were fought & the profound effect they have on our present lives . I imagine that these people are missing out on much more in life than just history .
