The museum is outstanding. I found a web site that had the history behind the closes along the Royal Mile. It was a good read. I wish I had the URL to give you. The shops are what they are. Holyrood was nice as well as the castle.
The last time I was there I took the bus (20 - 30 minute ride) out to Rosslyn Chapel. The stone work was amazing.
I hope to get there in late October for the birth of a grandchild. My wife will be staying for a few months. I will be there for three or four weeks. So I am planning a few side trips when I am not spoiling the new baby.
BTW: I have another grandchild here in Tennessee due in January. That will make three total. Sure makes growing old worth it.

Should you go to the museum and meet a guide with a badge saying Susan, ask her if she's a Stewart, if she says she Was, then that would be my sister!
I intend to to visit her sometime at work, kilted up, she's not seen me in a kilt!
This of course a case of having lived there, well 14 miles away, I didn't go to the museums because there was always time in the future.
Enjoy your visit.

Not sure you can have been in the same country! Our local gala was relegated to the village hall. When it was not raining hard, it was drizzling, the field was saturated, the fly past cancelled along with most of the activities. However the belly dancers brightened the place up and the bar was open.

So the day wasn't a total washout then.
I'm afraid that the weather continues fine and warm down here, tee shirt, sandals and sun hat being de rigueur with most opting to wear shorts with them.
Hopefully the good weather has spread to the North.

Despite the weather, I'm guessing someone might have complained if they didn't wear anything else with them.![Smile](http://www.xmarksthescot.com/forum/images/smilies/icon_smile.gif)
And yes, the weather has improved up here, thank you.

Wet, rainy and cool today at Kyle of Lochalsh but that is what we expect. Tomorrow cloudy and rainy so off to Portree then a walk to the Storr and perhaps a drive to Uig. Are yall jealous yet. Might be wet but that's why one bag was for hiking gear exclusively. We are just getting started and photos when i get home. Cut my teeth driving in Edinburgh so the A roads and single track were easy. A dram before bed. Cheers all. \_/\_/

Not jealous, just wishing we were there again!
Top Tip: When/ if you get to Uig look up Isle of Skye Brewing just up the hill. They make some
stunning ales and the Skye Black is one of the best "heavies" you'll ever have. They were closed for renovation when we went
through town last year but we sampled their products elsewhere--remarkable.
Enjoy your trip.

Last night in Scotland having had dinner in Edinburgh. Some good ale and malt at the hotel for later. Tomorrow begins the trek home to apparently wet Missouri. What a grand three weeks it has been for Jennifer and me. Photos and stories will be compiled on a new thread. Won't be easy coming back.
