    Personally I'd go for brown with tan or olive green - but that might be too matchy-matchy, and you do have the black socks - give it a go and see how it looks is the best thing to do. If you are happy with the effect then that's the end of it.

    Thanks, guys! I think my mom has convenced me to go with a cream colored shirt, rather than black, and a black vest if I want to dress it up a bit. She also believes I should wear leather sandals inatead of hiking shoes. Idk about that, but it couldn't hurt to try.

    Why not indeed. The jacobite shirt is very much a casual garment so absolutely no reason why it should not be entirely appropriate for wear with a Utilikilt.

    I have one my mom made for me from muslin. I've worn it with my denim kilt on occasion.
