I do not plan to dominate this thread but I know this subject well.
Here is a pre 1970's jingle from the tourism industry that everyone hummed or sang ad nauseam. You may find it insanely addictive.

The last I'll offer is, "Tom Dooley" by Doc Watson. The Kingston Trio made the tune more popular on the radio.
The song's history is Tom Dula killed Laura Foster in 1868 in Statesville, NC and was hanged for the crime.
