This is new to me but I like the mix. It is "The Old North State" performed by Dr. Lodge McCammon.

There is also the traditional State song. Here is the first verse.

I do not plan to dominate this thread but I know this subject well.
Here is a pre 1970's jingle from the tourism industry that everyone hummed or sang ad nauseam. You may find it insanely addictive.

The last I'll offer is, "Tom Dooley" by Doc Watson. The Kingston Trio made the tune more popular on the radio.
The song's history is Tom Dula killed Laura Foster in 1868 in Statesville, NC and was hanged for the crime.

I was commenting on your link Bo. You got it right the first time, but it was worth seeing again.

The Soul of Carolina through song
I got the chance to see Rev. Shirley Caesar perform in 1980. She did this song along with others. Though not about the state, it describes most native Carolinians true nature. Gospel music has influenced generations in the "Bible Belt".
Rev. Shirley is NC born and bred and a graduate of Shaw Univ. (a fine Carolina institute) Both are a great asset to NC history.
