    Virginia Tartan Day Stone Presentation

California Stone Carver Frank Maurer has traveled the United States, providing numerous states archives with hand-carved stones specific to their state. These are generally bread-box sized quarried stones that commemorate Tartan Day and the heritage of Scottish-Americans.

He offered a stone to the Commonwealth of Virginia, and the Scotttish Society of Fredericksburg was approached if they were interested which was accepted. The stone he is using is from Ferry Farm (the boyhood home of George Washington)!

He is now presenting it to the Tartan Day Committee, the same group that sponsored the Tartan Day Bill in 1998. Frank's vision is that this stone be shared among the Scottish Societies in Virginia,

    The presentation is this Saturday.

    Saturday, 25 July, at 12:00
    O'Connell Tavern
    112 King Street, Alexandria

There is a possibility the venue may change, so if you plan on going stay in phone contact with Mr. Mauer at 530-219-4477. So kilt up put your tartan on and be there!

    Ern, so close! And yet...
At that time, I will be flying from Allentown up to Syracuse for Kilt Kamp. But raise a dram, or a pint, for me, in memory of the fine time you hosted me to two years ago.
    Regards,
