Thanks, Mike. I do wear the US Army sett, with a 10th Group flash (green) and Special Forces crest for a kilt pin.
I've been looking at state tartans. I'd probably go with the Colorado one first; I've been here 1/2 my life. Besides, I think the CO tartan is prettier than the IL tartan. But I'm thinking my next kilt will be a 5yd Great Kilt, in Ross Hunting, from Sport Kilt.
I've got the soft leather, pattern from So You Want To Wear A Kilt, and a badger face from RennFest for the flap, to make a Jacobean pouch sporran; one of my winter projects.
And just so you folks don't get too serious, my nickname at a favorite cigar lounge is Skirt Boy. Well, it's not as bad a Tinkerbell or Church Mouse (for a guy who usually talks about 30dB too loud).

Welcome from the Highlands of Northern (and Southern) Utah.
My wife has documentation that indicates that her line goes back to the Rose and Ross clan, 7th century Scotland.

Welcome SPS Tools. I am a newby to the forum as well and I chose the Special Forces Tartan for my kilt.
