Hello from Michigan
I have recently became interested in my welsh heritage and got my first kilt today. I was referred to this forum by a woman I bought a kilt book from. I am very excited to get into the kilt scene. I am looking forward to attending the Michigan Renneisance Festival where I hope to meet many other kilt wearers. My first question is what kind of footwear should I wear with my kilt.

Footwear... It depends? What are you doing? Athletics? Then athletic footwear. Hanging about? Then whatever is comfortable when on your feet for a long period of time.
Bottom line, you can wear anything you want from boots, to sandles, to dress shoes. It sort of depends upon the rest of the outfit, honestly. A good rule of thumb, wear what you would have worn with pants (again, based upon the rest kf the outfit). Then, toss on your kilt and head out the door...but don't forget your sporran to carry your keys and wallet!!
