I finally got sunlight, decent temperatures, the jacket and Marite all together in the same place at the same time. There is a reason that good tweed jackets aren't cheap, as they're a lot of tedious work to make, but it came out very nice. I have a batch of our tartan being woven in a dark blue with brighter orange version which will be 13 oz. from Marton Mills. She is looking forward to having something lighter for long skirts and it will probably get a similar jacket in Cheviot CHE105, Flintstone/Petrol, which is a dark blue herringbone.

It's certainly nice to have a competent tailor in the house.... even if she does spend her days as a PhD molecular biologist.

Lovely lady, lovely clothes. You make a great pair.
If you are going to do it, do it in a kilt!

I can see how you would be proud of a wife that can run a string of DNA and Wool so expertly. My pun pales to my envy of such fine work.

We spent a few days up north at our family's place on the lake, did some kayaking and target shooting, but took her sewing machine for the evenings since the TV seldom works up there.
We even spent one afternoon hiking a few miles on a nice trail through the woods made on an old railroad bed. She wore the blue T-6 tartan and I had the black version.

Speaking of kilt in photo; nice tight swirl on your kilt. Looks comfortable for walking. Please could you clarify your Kilt spec. Roderick.

Roderick, The kilt is 16 oz. Dalgliesh wool in a tartan I designed and was made for me by Barb Tewksbury. I have two versions of it, a black one and a blue one, both knife-pleated to the stripe and just beautifully made. I think the biggest surprise was how they fit so well and hug your hips so evenly that you don't really notice their weight.
