Well, here I am late to the party again!

Yes, Friday night at the Celtic Tavern is a go as always. This year I will not be out of town, so you can come and see me in person.

I know that Tripleblessed and several others will be there as well--probably Lamar Britt, et al. I would never speak disparagingly of the sponsors reception which competes with our humble gathering no Friday evenings, but . . . you knew there was a but, and it's a big one! (pun intended) . . . we're a lot more fun!

The Tavern is a family-oriented place, so you can bring your children with no fear of their being lead astray or molested in any way. (Unless you leave them unattended, in which case we may sell them to the Campbells or something.)

The Tavern does stock copious amounts of ales and other fermented adult beverages, but if you want to swap tastes of different single malts, Greg (the owner) won't complain about our flasks. (Notice, I use the plural form of flask; I have several and like to use them all at once.) We often swap tastings on the sidewalk out front as well as sampling the wares of the bar inside. And I will ask Greg to be sure to have extra shepherd's pie as you do not want to miss that.

Any time after 5:00 P.M. or so, you can come in and meet any number of the roving rabble. It's pretty close to the park, so all you campers ought to plan on being with us. We'll be the guys in the kilts.

For those of a more adventurous bent, we will begin cattle reiving and generally pillaging the surrounding area later in the evening. Come casually dressed or to the nines, it won't matter. If its cool, I'll likely be in a sweater. If hot, it's a polo shirt or some such. I save my finery for weddings, funerals, Burns Suppers (which we also have in January), and maybe the games if it's cool enough.

So plan now. Be there or wish you had. You know you want to; all the kids are doing it.

And pay close attention to how Jock sports the proper plant badge for the rabble. If you don't have one, get one soon!

Maybe staying someplace on friday night, make the tavern meet-up then spend the day at the games on Saturday.

Its all fluid right now. I am trying to hold onto my money. I will be heading to Edinburgh in November for the birth of a new grand baby.
I would suggest you think about staying at the La Quinta Inn and Suites. It's near the Tavern, so five bucks will get you a cab. And you're right off the interstate, so it's very accessible.

    Just sayin'.

Oh, and by the way, here's info for the Tavern in case you don't already know. (I do not own any interest in the place, nor do I get a kick back for making referrals. It's just good place to meet and eat.)

Thomas, what wonderful news! And what a lucky day for them when they became part of your family.

Mattie, good to hear positive results for your wife. I have wondered about her progress; it will be good to see you.

Congratulations! I must say I admire the foresight and planning required to create such a need to visit Scotland.

I'll be there on Saturday, competing with the Louisville Pipe Band. I'm bumming a ride from one of our snares, so I'm limited on where I can go outside of the event. I will try to do the meet-up at 1 PM Saturday, but may be finishing up the massed bands and/or tuning for our turn in the judging circle.

I will try to remember to wear the dandelion.

I will be there (and dragging my sweet husband along too- he doesn't get out much and doesn't know what to expect)... I'm extremely excited, this will be my first Highland Games!! I look forward to it immensely and I know I will feel welcomed and at home with fellow Scots/ descendants. I've planned this trip since May and I've still got work to do to get our 1740s Highland outfits presentable!!

We are coming in sometime Friday, driving from Jacksonville AL (Google maps tells me just over 2 hrs drive). I'm not sure what time we'll be getting in. We are staying at Stone Mountain Inn Friday and Saturday nights and will definitely be at the games all of Sat & Sun, planning on meeting up at the Scottish Tartans Museum tent to meet some of you in person! I hope we will get to hang out at the tavern as well.

    Did I mention I'm excited?!?!!
