    New Kilt Jacket and Waiscoat

    Greetings Rabble ,

I recently made an Ebay purchase of a kilt jacket and waistcoat . There is nothing special about that . However , I managed to score a very high quality weight tweed jacket and waistcoat in a " brown hounds tooth tweed pattern " at a very reasonable price .

This sort of thing doesn't appear on Ebay very often although it does pop up from time to time.

Just thought I would share some pics .

    Jacket and waistcoat :

Jacket with Montgomery Blue Green and with Montgomery Blue kilts .

    Cheers , Mike

Very nice, I do think that brown tweed can make an excellent contrast with the kilt. Not a colour seen about too often these days.

That is fantastic! SCORE as we say!

Yes not often seen, a wonderful vintage look that compliments most any kilt I would think.

As far as other accessories, my mind's-eye sees a nice vintage-looking brown sporran being worn with it, maybe something like this

Here's a nice brown tweed kilt jacket in an old Forsyth catalogue

So YOU got it!! I was watching that auction and had a friend bidding on it. He slept in the morning the auction ended and forgot all about it. Needless to say he was bummed. Glad it found a good owner either way! I am a fan of the older style brown tweeds and will eventually invest in a jacket and waistcoat such as this!.

Not to create a tangent, but, is it complimentary to have jacket/waistcoat combinations that aren't exactly matched?

That is a very smart set. I'm a fan of the browns over the more common green.

I wasn't inferring they didn't match, just having a stream of consciousness moment. Again, I understand this is somewhat tangential, but if one has a jacket & waistcoat combination that are complimentary in color, but not exactly matched, is this commonly accepted? Subjective/matter of taste?

Both matching and complementary are common and very braw!
