Kilted Friday at the office today, and for happy hour in the late afternoon. Got some nice compliments on the Wildcat Tartan. Even got a "you look nice!" from the CEO when I passed her in the hallway this morning. A good day.

Like your big rectangular sporran. I wear a drovers sporran. a soft traditional Scottish sporran, designed to carry my days
supply of porridge oats and days supply of musket balls. The sporran has a loop in the back and hangs from my belt.
I don't like lots of junk in my sporran.
Saw gent in Marazion while waiting for bus after Friday Scottish country dance class. This chap showed me his man bag.
Large leather shoulder bag , seems to be a fashion. I showed him my Shoulder bag; soft grey shoulder bag, sort of uni sex , ptobably
used by lady. Does the job, cost one pound, was reduced in charity shop. Lots of pockets inside,

Lots of folks said I looked smart waiting for 1o.30 bus in Lizard. wore long sweater under Kilt and Argyle on way down .Heating was on in double decker.Changed in Helston. Fifty minute trip to penzance. Into Motor factor to order new upright and forty five degree and
four wheel lay down sack truck.
Bought sandwich pack and milk in grocers shop run by Indians, back on bus to Marazion, by St Michals Mount.
Met elderly couple from California, Helped gent off with wife's big case on wheels.
Into dance for couple of hours.
Chatted with couple of tourists while waiting for student bus for ninety minute run home on cold bus with no heating.
Put on overcoat to go to fish chips shop in village.
Everyone shows interest in kilt, or accepts it as par for the course. I am polite when I see a lady in a skirt. A rare site these days. Ladies are polite and fascinated by the Kilt, chatted to one on bus about ghost of sevant in Penzance mansion, now hundred bed youth hostel.

Day of dedication; four buses to go thirty miles for 90 minutes dancing in kilt. total time on buses was four hours hours.
Could see Penzance across Mounts bay an hour before I passed the church hall. where we dance.
Of on bus again 0715 Sat for lay up of sailing luggers in St Ives. Twenty foot boats with three quarters of ton of lead ballast in bilges.

Looks smart,Like Kilt. As traditional kilt wearer with Scottish ex pats , we wear sporran chain under belt. I wear drovers sporran looped into belt, this stops hard sporran banging around and rhythm of tastles while I walk.
I wear Kilt hem to top of knee cap with waist band two inches above belt top. Belt tightens into natural waist.
Top of sporran one hand span bellow belt.
This may vary from how you have been tought to wear kilt, but it is the way we, Thirty kilties, dressed thirty kilties dressed, thirty five years ago.
It is difficult if you do not have this peer pressure and your mate sitting beside you for a yarn every week.

What I am saying is that if you walked into a church hall with sixty people in it, someone would notice if you got it wrong.
The worst sin a lady could make was to wear the same pattern of dress or skirt which another lady wore,

It was rare for two Kilties , apart from two brothers, to wear matching Kilts. One old ex military piper did not wear a
Sporran for dancing lessons.
We have now moved on. If your style of dress works Carry on. There is a suggestion that a civvy should wear his kilt as a uniform , He must be smart at all times and be ready for inspection by the imaginary Sargent Major.

I had one in the form of a shirt lifter. His praise was Congratulations, you are a true Scotsman. Weird guy, could have done him for assault.
Kilting is full of suprises and compliments. Perhaps my comments may open a debate......

Kilted Friday.
I trust my previous post is relative to kilted Friday.I am hoping to hold this tread together.
The issue is the type of comments The Kilty gets on Fridays.
I went down to Marazion beach yesterday. Gave a local Boatman the traditional local greeting. he responded.

II I go out talking to the locals like a spare one at a wedding I would expect some stick.
I had a common comment yesterday. "are you wearing a Cornish Kilt". Folks do not know the difference.

The whole ball park might change when I get delivery of my Black Cornish Tank. this whole Cornish Kilt thing is still inconclusive in Its research................As is the history of the Scottish Kilt.............
.Read tartanpleats in" I wear a kilt" forum.Some of these gentlemen have worn the Kilt in Scotland for over Fifty Years.

To continue with yesterday's report. Was standing in line with my charming partner, who I have known for nearly a Year. Last week I passed comment on her nice sun tan and pretty dress. This week I made a mental note that she was wearing her bright red gardening trousers , which she had washed, and her best black night shirt, down to her knees. Mental note that she had let the side down.
Suddenly she said What tartan are you wearing ? I replied " Anchient Mackay, Chemically Dyed to make it look like an
Anchient muted faded vegetable dye. " Is that your tartan ?" she continued . "No ," I responded . Why are you wearing It if It is not your tartan ?" .............." madam " I replied "thirty five years ago a representative of the Clan Gave me permission to wear Mackay tartan for carrying out a brave deed. So I wear This tartan Today, with pride, as a true Scotsman ."
This charming lady did not twig exactly what I was saying . Just think about It.
I continued " I am a Cook. A rare Tartan . They say there is a Cook in every port. A lady who came from Kansas believed the Anchient Mariners had this trait. her name was Smith, same clan."

Father Bill I do apologise. I am a bit tired. The continuity of these Kilted Friday posts getting of mine getting muddled,We are holding a thead as to what happened on Friday and peoples reactions to the Friday Kiltie. My last post refered to the goings on in a Scottish Country Dance Class In a church hall just across the water from St Michaels Mount: the oldest port in Cornwall.
My next post will show how a Wee Jock and I wound up the Irish Manageress of a charity shop regarding a beautiful Black watch ladies pencil skirt which I found in her stock and wore round her shop with my full Scottish Country Dance Outfit. Roderick

For the first time in almost a year, no Kilted Friday for me yesterday. I'm in NC visiting my daughter, and I travel super light. Onward to next week!

Due to work and the type of clothing expected in the role, Kilted Fridays are rarely an option for me. But I endeavour to be kilted tomorrow, either a navy kilt suit or my Rangers Tartan with grey Argyll jacket and waistcoat

UPDATE: went with the Navy Kilt Suit. (sorry it's not the brightest pic)

seemed to divide opinions between observers as it wasn't easily distinctly recognised as a traditional tweed suit or a regular kilt with separate jacket... but it got its outing to test the waters. I think a grey one would have gone better. You live and learn...

Good understated outfit to wear to the workplace; however, I am curious why you chose wear the sporran chain over the belt. Anyway, I love that Wildcat tartan.
