Custom Kilts from Ebay/Pakistan ?

After waiting for responses I decided to order from EBay. The kilt came right away with out delay and was exactly as described. I think it is great quality for the price and the cotton blend fabric was lighter than the 100% cotton. It is now my go to kilt for working around the house. Looks nice but wrinkles when sat on. I wish I could justify buying only USA made kilts but it is really hard for me to spend 300 plus. Perhaps around Christmas I will get one made from Freedom or Alt Kilt.

This thread went right under my radar! Glad you had a good experience with eBay. FWIW, eBay is a great place for second hand Highland dress, and I'm speaking of the GOOD stuff, especially with the help of the folks on this site.

I'd completely missed this one too or I'd have commented much earlier. OP, glad to hear you're stoked on your new kilt!

disclaimer: Since I've taken kilts off my menu to focus on sewing bikepacking gear, I don't have a dog in this particular fight

For the record, I'd never be the least bit concerned about working in a custom made kilt. You'd be surprised at the kind of abuse that poly/cotton and nylon/cotton can take. Two of my three kilts in regular rotation at work have been beat completely to sh*t and washed/dried more than they should have been, and aside from some fading the fabric and stitching is still ace. I definitely understand wanting to take care with an expensive garment, but these things are very durable.

As far as good vendors for a future purchase, there aren't very many choices. Freedom Kilts and Alt.Kilt can set you up for not too far north of $200 if memory serves. I wouldn't hesitate to buy a Utilikilt either. If I didn't make my own and were shopping for a new kilt, this is where my list would stop.

Amerikilt have generally good reviews but IMO they can be a little poofy in the hips, depending on your proportions. I believe you can supply your own fabric as well, if what they offer isn't quite what you want. Proudly made in the US as well, which is rad at such a low price point.

I wouldn't touch another STK unless they've stopped cutting out the inside of their pleats for absolutely no reason. I'd also like them to be a little less vague about where their garments are manufactured.
