I think Rocky puts an addictive chemical in the irons he presses the pleats with! You buy one then you HAVE to buy another one, than another.... Rocky's crew makes kilts that are like opiates, it takes just one hit, then you are hooked... I'm currently hankering a new woolly fix...

But honestly, the kilt will arrive and be a thing of beauty.... And if you get a plethora of butterscotch candies... Just mail em to me, those are my favorite!

After a long talk with Eric who did a great job of answering my questions, giving me a number of suggestions and allaying my doubts, I placed an order for a semi-traidional kilt in US Army tartan, matching flashes, navy & bottle green hose, Rob Roy day sporran and rampant lion kilt pin.

I paid the rush fee and asked if possible it be delivered by Nov 12 as I would like to wear it to the Scottish Games in Salado, TX on Nov 14.

I do know Nov 11 is Veterans Day. I'm an Army veteran and the day before Veterans Day, Nov 10, is my birthday - one I proudly share with the US Marine Corps. I too never forget.

From 1971-1977 Veterans Day was observed on a Monday, not Nov 11. That made me a bit nuts and I wrote Congressman Bill Archer, TX-7, that Veterans Day should not be a holiday of convenience so people got another three day holiday, but a day to honor those who gave their lives in service of our great nation. In the UK, November 11th is called Armistice Day, as it commemorates the ending of WW1, and that is the day the armistice was signed, in a railway carriage at Versailles. I remember when it used to be celebrated on the day, and all traffic stopped at midday, but now it is celebrated on the Sunday. Poppies (not real ones, but fake) are worn on Armistice Day, to commemorate those who died.

How about the semi-trad for "summer time hiking and knocking about the yard or out to the local pub"?

Since it is also washable and Teflon coated, the semi-trad goes out and about quite nicely.

The Semi Trad will "swing" better b/c it has more cloth in it.

Basically, it comes down to this:

1) The Semi Trad will be able to be dressed up a bit. The Casual is intended to be worn... well... casually.
2) If you want a kilt that can be worn for many different things (Casual to Semi Formal), get the Semi Trad. If you're JUST going to wear it casually, get the Casual.
3) If you have an "addictive personality" and can see yourself getting multiple kilts, then maybe save a few $ on your first one and get the Casual and if you like it, get a Semi Trad for the next one.
4) Only YOU can decide which is right for you.
5) Are you going to look back after purchasing the Casual and say "Darn it, I should have upgraded to the Semi Trad"? Then get the Semi Trad.
6) Are you going to look back on buying the Semi Trad and say "Darn it, I missed my house payment and should have gone cheaper"? Then buy the Casual.

My $.02.

I agonized over the semi trad or casual but finally said The "hellwith it" and went for the full 8 yard tank. I never looked back. fabulous . absolutely. My bank account is telling me that I must get perhaps a semi trad next from Rocky but I am sure it will be as impressive as one would expect from USAK. Simply marvelous people to deal with. I am sure the casual or any other product that they put forth will be above expectations.
