Honeymoon's
Hello everyone, I was wondering where you lads and lassies honeymooned, when I asked my wife to be, where she wanted to go for the honeymoon she said Transylvania!!! I couldn't believe it!!!, anyway we had a lovely time there, it was like going back in time though, everything was horse drawn, I'm really glad we went there and my wife's strange place to honeymoon turned out to be perfect, I thank you all for your kind replies in advance. Kit

In 2013 We honeymooned in Scotland. I had been twice before but it was the first time for my wife. A week in Edinburgh and a week in the highlands.

My wife and were married on Jan. 4th, 1975 in Saskatoon, Sask. Temperature was -40. I was in my 4th year of Engineering at the U of S. Our honeymoon was delayed as I returned to classes on Jan. 6th.

I was married January 29, 1977.
About a week later we left our home in Las Vegas for a skiing honeymoon a Mammoth Mountain, California in a '74 FJ55 LandCruiser.
About halfway into the 8 hour drive, at Sarcobatus Flats #2 (the phone number of the semi-operating gas station) the truck started running poorly. We managed to call the condo and tell them we were going to be late, maybe so much as the next day. I futzed about with the Goose (the 'Cruiser's name) and got it running well enough to continue. About four hours later we rolled into Bishop California about an hour and a half short of our destination.
The truck was barely running. So, we pulled into the service drive of the Chevy, Buick, Dodge, Chrysler, Ford, Datsun, Toyota dealer, crawled into the back and tried to sleep. About an hour later a cop knocked on the window and asked what exactly in the he** we thought we were doing. We told him and that since they opened in an hour or so, no, we didn't want to check into the motel. He laughed and went on his merry way. The next morning we found out the truck was in dire need of a . . . tune up.
We made it to Mammoth that day but had both caught colds from hell and to top it off it rained the whole week, eliminating the skiing portion of the trip. All in all, most of it was terrible. Which meant we had nowhere to go but up, and we did. We were very happily married for 33 years until she died of liver failure due to breast cancer.
So, do me a favor and donate to a responsible breast cancer research outfit and raise a glass to Beth White after you do.

Marriage #1 in 1996 was the "big wedding" then a week's honeymoon at one of the resorts in Negril, Jamaica.
Marriage #2 in 2013 was just the two of us, a minister and photographer in a small outdoor chapel just outside of Austin, Texas. The honeymoon was spent on the motorcycle around Austin and in the Texas Hill Country. We visited the wonderful towns of Fredericksburg and Llano, and spent a couple of nights at a B&B one mile from Enchanted Rock, a well-known natural landmark and State Park. We hiked up Enchanted Rock one of the mornings, and on our way home we spent a night with my new Mother-in-law on her ranch so she could congratulate us, as she is the only living parent left between us.
I didn't own any kilts back then, but several months later we were back in Fredericksburg again on the motorcycle with some friends, and that’s when I surprised my wife by wearing my first SportKilt, and it was lurking here at XMTS that really made it happen. I posted my first “new member” message as soon as we got back to the hotel that night. Now owning 5 kilts, I think I have the bug.
Sorry to go on a tangent there… but the two stories are somewhat related to one another.

Thanks freep, I am sorry your wife passed, I will of course raise a glass to Beth, and donate to the local cancer charity, my daughter is called Beth so it is more poignant for me. Kit

I too will raise a glass to your Beth. My bride celebrated her 10 year as a breast cancer survivor in September.

We pitched a tent beside a remote alpine lake in Montana. A wonderful couple of days!
