    As that appears to be Regimental dress, the tartan will likely not identify either "Mac". A search by name of service records might be of help

    Wow, that might be quite challenging based on the photograph! I will hazard a guess that is the Black Watch or a derivative.

    I'd like to thank the group for the fine investigative abilities on the identity of Jane's photo relative. I caught myself telling my wife the few clues I could recognize (sporran, cap badge, spats type) with information I got from other threads of members.

    I'm still learning and wanted the group to know. That is the reason this forum is the recommended authority.
