Wives wear the tartan of their husband in Scotland, regardless of whether they like it or not. Of course the option of not wearing "his" tartan is open to them and they then choose another style of cloth other than tartan. The girls are usually pretty adept at finding their husbands tartan in other hues or even if they are lucky, another tartan within the same Clan. Some Clans like the MacDonalds or MacLeods have many to choose from.

    But.
He's a Buchannan. Ever seen the Buchannan tartan? Yellow background with black and red. . . no hope. He'd never go for it.
It's actually more of a green background with yellow/red/blue stripes... but it does have more yellow than most.

Have him look at the weathered as mentioned but also the Modern Hunting which is quite subdued.

    Love my Modern Buchanan!

As noted, my Cuz won't jump. He thinks a camo ball cap with red lettering is too flashy.
