I went through this about 6 years ago when I started kilting and all my pants belts looked too narrow. I like tooled belts and some are home tooled that I made before carpel tunnel came into my life and hammering became a no no.
Men's wide belts are a tad rare!
I had Chicago screws already on hand from this prior work - they came in bags of 50 when I bought them. They are more secure and lower profile than snaps and make buckle swapping simple. This allows you to choose black or brown belt and select the buckle to go with the rest of my apparel - antique or bright - brass or silver. 4 buckles and 2 belts to make 8 "looks".
My plain belts are from purchased tooling blanks that take little work to cut, punch, dye and finish into belts.
The belts with designs stamped in I bought and modified to fit my buckles with little effort - usually just drilling rivets and installing screws.

Pants is only a present tense verb here. I once panted, but it's all cool now.
