    He looks a bit overdressed for his surroundings! Would a casual look be more suited to his environment? (Or is a formal event taking place off-camera?)

    Difficult to see what he is wearing under the jacket, but I would not imagine he took a huge variety of kilt friendly items to Antarctica. Likely all the other jackets would be too long and I doubt he would last out the tune if he was out there jacket-less.
    If you are going to do it, do it in a kilt!

    I would imagine some sort of stout lagging would be in order for ones pipes in such temperatures so long as it didn't block any functional holes. Is he the chap that froze to the spot? I think I saw him on Google earth
