    two tone kilt help

I am new to the forum as well as the world of kilts, i recently discovered that my mothers side comes from both Scottish and Irish. Although it might not be a traditional kilt, I recently saw a kilt that was black on the outside and red plaid on the inside pleats. I am in law enforcement and would love a black with the law enforcement plaid in the pleats. Are there any other companies aside from Sport kilts - Team Kilt that offer this design of two tone?

I must say, that design seems really cool.
I, personally, can't help, but I can welcome you to this rabble!

Try contacting forum advertiser Burnett's & Struth. The have what they call their hybred kilt. They are also BiltKilt that do something similar to what you are asking about.

Does anyone have any experience with any of these brands? Or any recommendations? This is my first kilt so any help is appreciated

The recommendations come from two reputable sources in their own right. Be worth the investigation of the noted companies, methinks.

Three-time World Drum Major Champion Jason Paguio often wears a black kilt with tartan inside the pleats.

    Here it is!

I don't know who made that for him.

Jason's kilt was made by Howie Nickelsby of 21st Century Kilts. It cost about the same as my car.

The black fabric is actually a true black on black Tartan called Ben Dubh.

Interesting! I didn't know it was a black tartan. I've seen Jason in person while he's wearing that kilt and I never noticed. He did receive a bit of stick over that kilt, from the pipe band community!

That might have been the same tartan that Elsie Stuehmeyer was talking about. She made a kilt for Colin Armstrong, Pipe Major of the Los Angeles Scottish, in a black-on-black tartan, and she said it was nearly impossible to see the pattern in order to do the pleating: she had to go outside in direct sunlight to discern the tartan.

I was talking with Jason about that kilt a few years ago at a marching band competition. He said he got a lot of flack, especially from other drum majors. To prove his abilities, he competed in a full No. 1 and creamed the competition.
