Offtopic, but I find it interesting how for several decades "the face of the Games" has been Drum Major Joe Hosch, who always appeared in Full Dress. The baton has been handed to Dave Melton, who likewise always appears in Full Dress. That's the public image of the Highlander: the kilted Drum Major in Full Dress with feather bonnet.

I was talking with Jason about that kilt a few years ago at a marching band competition. He said he got a lot of flack, especially from other drum majors. To prove his abilities, he competed in a full No. 1 and creamed the competition.

Jason's kilt was made by Howie Nickelsby of 21st Century Kilts. It cost about the same as my car.

The black fabric is actually a true black on black Tartan called Ben Dubh.
