They have a bit of elastic in the waist. I was talking more like a modern - utili-kilt like that is adjustable with straps kind of like this.

    I like utilikilts, I don't like that 90% of them have a fixed - non-adjustable waist.

I believe it is possible to have a second buckle installed behind or in grond of oyur regular one. This might work.

Mos kilts with straps are made to have about 2 inches either side of the center hole. Is this not enough to work? your original post mentioned a rather small shift in size. I range from 38 - 42 which is way too for the straps to accommodate. (makes me pay attention to my diet more.)

That's what I'm saying man. Most modern kilts do not adjust "at all". Like this modern kilt from UT Kilts. The buckles are just for show. The snaps on the waist are what fastens the kilt around your waist. And there is only that one position. So what you have is what you get, and you do not get to adjust the waist.

I hadn't thought about having it altered to have straps. I think it would look weird with all the snaps. Especially if you were wearing it to looser than is was meant to. But It might work.

Leprichan - the kilt I used as an example is would on things celtic. But it is pick up only. In Austin, TX.

Father Bill - I did not see your post. Thanks, I'll check that out.

Sadly, freedom kilt's website is down.

Have you looked at Stumptown kilts?

    http://stumptownkilts.com/mens-kilts/

They have snapps that wrap nearly the entire way round.

Here is a review of it tha tshows the design features. (I'm not the reviewer.)

I have no idea what they are like but UTkilts do have Velcro waist kilts in their "expandable Scottish kilt" line.
you could also check out Sport Kilt.

I have a modern kilt (utility kilt style) from UT Kilt. There isn't adjustability in the waist. In fact, the wife decided to wash it...and dry it...and nearly got divorce papers. So now it doesn't fit. It was a 44, now it's a "I CAN'T BREATH!".

Brice DOES have some that have adjustible settings. I would email him and ask though.

If you're looking for an adjustable modern kilt in a utilty kilt style, unfortunately you'll have to pay more than $100 for a quality garment that will sustain the abuse of daily wear.

I have a Sport Kilt with slit pockets like you get on ordinary trousers, not cargo pockets, and it is tartan. The trouble is with them everything is extra! To get the same kilt in a Large, which I reckon to be your size, would be $89.50, but that's with no options other than the pockets. In my size it would cost a lot more! Straps (rather than just velcro) add $18, and sewn down pleats add $12, and so on.

Assuming you want a plain colour and cargo pockets, you would be looking at a different model of kilt. It looks like you could get a black or olive drab kilt from them with slit pockets for the same money as a tartan one, but to get one with cargo pockets but still with an adjustable waist it looks like it would cost much more.

Corbmonster, I don’t know the company, I don’t know their kilts, but the seller claims this kilt http://scottishkiltshop.com/buy-cust...luxe-kilt.html is
adjustable in the waist. And the price is within your budget. You can have it in various colors and in your preferred length, what is unusual with inexpensive kilts.
