I have a modern kilt (utility kilt style) from UT Kilt. There isn't adjustability in the waist. In fact, the wife decided to wash it...and dry it...and nearly got divorce papers. So now it doesn't fit. It was a 44, now it's a "I CAN'T BREATH!".

Brice DOES have some that have adjustible settings. I would email him and ask though.

    Corbmonster,

From your description I assume you want a solid colored kilt possibly with external pockets.

Sorry, But mine do not fit within your stated price.

But - you can find the same kilt sold by UT Kilts all over ebay. The exact same Pakistani made kilt is available from over 20 different sellers. It is perhaps the most common non-Tartan Pakistani kilt. Sometimes the pattern of snaps on the apron may be different or the side straps may look slightly different but they are all the same basic kilt.
I see them on ebay right now for anywhere from $25.00usd up to $97.00usd

    MonkeyRogue -

I have a 44 deluxe in brown that I could be persuaded to part with. (It's too big on me now.) I have had it a year and worn it perhaps 6 times. it has been washed but never machine dried.
Great product. I have a blackout deluxe under the tree. (I'm just not a fan of the brown for me.)

    Leprechaun,

We'll have to look into that later in the new year. I get a bonus around March, if you still have it, I may just do that.

If you're looking for an adjustable modern kilt in a utilty kilt style, unfortunately you'll have to pay more than $100 for a quality garment that will sustain the abuse of daily wear.

Make your own X-Kilt, built to your own proportions. They are designed to be adjustable enough to allow for the fluctuations you describe.

Assuming you know someone who owns a sewing machine you can borrow you could put together at least three X-Kilts for $100. And they'd be your own creations.

Once you get the hang of it you will easily be able to make your own modifications to suit your own particular needs.

That would be a good idea for later. But I don't have the resources or time to take that up. I'd love to later though.

I have a Sport Kilt with slit pockets like you get on ordinary trousers, not cargo pockets, and it is tartan. The trouble is with them everything is extra! To get the same kilt in a Large, which I reckon to be your size, would be $89.50, but that's with no options other than the pockets. In my size it would cost a lot more! Straps (rather than just velcro) add $18, and sewn down pleats add $12, and so on.

Assuming you want a plain colour and cargo pockets, you would be looking at a different model of kilt. It looks like you could get a black or olive drab kilt from them with slit pockets for the same money as a tartan one, but to get one with cargo pockets but still with an adjustable waist it looks like it would cost much more.

I have a stumptown which works great for holidays like thanksgiving dinner and I am able to adjust as needed. Got mine on eBay less than $100. Another way to solve the issue is to add snaps to a kilt like in the photo you posted. Snaps are very easy to install and the side straps work well for adjustments. I have a UT kilt that I modified for working in and the snaps did the trick. I know the feeling as it is not like just buying another pair of jeans. Good luck.
