Is your kilt wool, acrylic, or PV?

It would help if you would tell us what type of kilt you have.

Wool, synthetic? What weight? Hand-stitched or machine-stitched?

Do you know who made it?

How old is it and how dirty is it? If it has spots or stains do you know what caused them?

Not machine washed - you'll probably only ever do it once.

Careful hand washing in a bath is possible, but no agitation of the fabric, not even from the water when filling up the bath for rinsing, lift the lift onto a rack or into a laundry basket to protect it.

When rinsed, drain the kilt for some hours before laying it out flat and smoothing the pleats. When it is just slightly damp it can be hung up to finish drying, but the weight of water a kilt can hold can break the stitching.
