Newbie question
I have two Kilts that were given to me. In searching I've found one was made in USA and the other was made in Pakistan (I think).
I was wanting to buy my own during the Highlands games a couple of weeks ago but everything I found in my size didnt have a "Made in so and so" tag is it safe to assume those are from Pakistan? Doesn't everything not made in the USA have to have an import tag?

IMO it's safe to assume that tartan kilts for sale at games and festivals are imported unless there's clear evidence to the contrary. The only ones I've seen that aren't have been Sport Kilts. I do know that imported kilts won't always have a tag indicating where it was made, and the vendors don't always know or care. Some will intentionally misrepresent where their products are made.

I'm thinking there's a place for Pakistani kilts. They're cheap. They're decent and not everyone that would kilt can afford a domestic or Scottish kilt.

My question wasn't about the "right or wrong" of the makers, just how they are labeled. I dont know enough about Kilts to tell how its made, if its any good or if the thing will fall off in the middle of taking my wife out for dinner.
If I came off sounding disdainful I truly apologize.

I pulled the US Trade laws and here is the first paragraph. There may be "sweat shops" that do not label for country of origin, material used, etc. but I am guessing. It comes down to, "you get what you pay for" and for some of us, that is the best we can do ... for now.

I was thinking more along the lines of vendors who say their stuff is made here when it's not, or sneaky lines like "100% designed in the USA". A bellydance costuming vendor that my wife used to model for would cut the tags out of her cheap, imported crap and replace them with her own. People will do strange things to give a false impression of themselves.

No worries. They should be labeled as to country of origin/manufacture. I once worked for a ski tools company. The owner had imported a bunch of ski vises from Taiwan. We had to unpack each of them put a "Made in Taiwan" sticker on each, repackage them and put a sticker on the box. There were thousands. So, yeah, there should have been a tag.
