(a) Burns did not write all the words - some of the verses are traditional
(b) the tune generally used today was not the original
Here are two versions of the original (variously known as ‘Sir Alexander Don’s Strathspey’, ‘The Miller’s Daughter’ and ‘The Miller’s Wedding’) which is more difficult to sing which I suppose explains its lack of use for communal singing.

Whichever tune you use, remember it's "Syne" not "Zyne"
