Well whatever mill it was woven at... 8 yards of Macfarlane Hunting Modern arrived 4 days ago. The quality is fantastic and the price at £167 retail was unbelievable...

I've now started to make my first kilt from wool, with the aid of Barbara's book. It's so much easier to work with than cotton and looking really good so far for my first real attempt.

I'll post photos totonight when I get home from work.

I managed to get the photos on at breakfast. the first pic is of the tartan split in two, the remainder are of my pleats to the stripe so far. It's not perfect by any stretch but I'm pleased with it so far.

I'll certainly be buying tartan there again... I have the bug lol

It's in the works as we speak. I've been finalizing the colors for the grey version of our tartan with the gals from their bespoke department (who are wonderful and extremely helpful to work with) this morning and within the last couple of days they have been upgrading the website with an index of the stock tartans, as well as sample pix of their tweeds (some of which are really nice and patterns that I haven't seen before). I don't think they have everything running and finished yet, but have a look.

The definitely don't have everything up yet, and I really hope it works better when they get it finished than it did this morning when I went to their site!!

Yep, she says the upgraded format just went online yesterday and it will take a while to get everything in there and running. It should be much more complete and useful than the previous version, which only said they make tartan and showed just a few examples.

The old tartan index was actually quite good and pretty fast. And it definitely had dozens and dozens of tartans. I didn't realize that it didn't have all of the ones they weave, though.

The new version is really really slow (at least it was this morning), and I'm on an ethernet connection. And there's no way to know what the tartan is unless you hover over the thumbnail, and the tartan number doesn't appear with the thumbnail. Both are a pain! Yes there's more information, but the interface isn't an improvement over the old version (at least so far).

Still some bugs? Anderson tartan fronts the "A-B" alphabet group but, if you click on "A", nothing is listed!

On the updated Marton Mills site I noticed this statement when one clicks on a material "This product can only be purchased by members". Tried clicking on 5 or so and they all said the same thing.
