You are cruel Bear!! altho' that is one question I sometimes fail to give a good answer for.
I've been known to answer:
1.Isn't everyone?
2.Are you American? (to one wearing jeans)
3.I have Scottish heritage (a serious answer to those who deserve one).

I guess conformity must rule our lives, or at least that is why people respond the way they do.
I loved hearing this Bear, it is a classic

It's funny. I've had the 'whats with the skirt' thing and 'why the kilt when your not scottish'.
The few Scots who have spoken in this way weren't being rude or critical. They were just amazed an Englishman would WANT to wear a kilt. This has to be down to old rivalries.
When I say, 'I just love wearing the kilt' they say, 'That's great, were really glad you want to'.

Good one Bear
I will have to remember it next time I get the Scotish question.
This past Sunday night after a complete wanding at security in the Las Vegas Airport. the TSA agent asked 'What is that' to my denim UK. When I told him what it was he asked if I was Scotish, I replied no. Next question was 'why are you wearing a kilt then'. Being it was midnight, my plane was already late I was not a happy camper anyway, so I just asked him if it was part of his job to question what people wore. Anyway these kind of questions just make my want to wear my kilts more.
