What tartan?
A local mate wants this kilted skirt for his wife, she wants to know what tartan it is, does anyone know?
It would look nice on my wife too!

That would look nice as a kilt, too! I don't have a handy reference to check the tartan, though.

The piccie comes from the Kilt Store, I've emailed them, but it's still the weekend over there.

Nice mystery.
Looks close to a Flower of Scotland, Pride of Scotland, or even New York City...but no match for them.
Think there's a tartan finder website where you plug in the color pattern and it tells you the tartan.

Silly me. Looks like the Isle of Skye tartan
My ancestor's homeland.
Found it in the Scottish Lion catalog, here's an online source.

And a pic of a waistcoat in that tartan.

Is it typical to have a "condensed" version and an "expanded" version of the tartan? Notice how much broader the tartan in the shawl is from the skirt - it really shows the purple bordering the heather stripes of the kilt, while in the skirt the purple is far less noticable.
