Royal Marines / Scots Guard perform in Austin, TX
For the lucky folk in Central Texas, the Band of the Royal Marines and the Pipes and Drums and Highland Dancers of the Scots Guards will be in Austin at the Erwin Center on February 18th.
See: https://www.uterwincenter.com/events...e-scots-guards
Perhaps we could get up a group to attend.

Is there a site that lists all the dates/locations for this tour? I haven't found one yet. I'm not totally opposed to driving to Austin, but a North Texas venue would be ideal.

I know they will be in San Antonio on Feb. 17, thought about going there, then learned they would be in Austin. Search for "Royal Marines/Scots Guards" and see if that will answer your question. If that does not work out for you, we'll see if we can get something up in Austin to make your trip more worthwhile.

No luck so far. I'll keep my eyes open, but let's revisit this in early February and see what make sense.

There have been very favorable comments from others who have seen this performance at other venues as they tour the US. The Royal Marines and Scots Guard will be in Austin in just 2 days, February 18th at the Erwin Center. Personally I know of 10 who will be attending. Look for us (5 men in kilts.) The group performed here about 4 years ago - great show.

I saw the concert last night, very cool.
I don't think I've missed one of these tours since 1976.
Here's the thread about this tour which has been running since June 2015

Here's a thread about the tour's performance in London, Ontario, which has some nice photos

By the way, they announced, and wrote in the programme, that the band of the Royal Marines last toured North America in 1985, the pipes & drums of the Scots Guards last toured North America in 1977. I'd attended the local appearances of both those tours, but I'd forgot how long ago they'd been! How time flies.
The last North American tour was The Black Watch in 2013.
The pipes & drums of the Scots Guards were just here in California last September, but not part of a North American tour, but to compete at the Pleasanton Highland Games.
The bands on tour keep getting smaller. This Royal Marines band last night had one rank of five snare drummers marching in front, in 1985 I count one rank of seven, in 1976 I count two ranks of seven snare drummers, 14 in total.
The Scots Guards had ten pipers last night; in 1977 they fielded 16 (the old standard size for an army pipe band).
