Dalgliesh MacRae Reproduction Colors Tartan.
Has anyone purchased anything made of the Dalgliesh MacRae reproduction colors tartan that they can share images of? I'm interested in having Barb make a kilt made from this, one of my clan tartans. However I haven't been able to find any good images of it for examination save for the one on their site.

Same here Scott. This is definitely the best looking version of the MacRae Red tartan that I have found, thus my interest.

This would look really nice in the Wilsons of Bannockburn palette, as well.

And so it does. Bear in mind that this, Ross, Lumsden and the Prince's Own are essentially the same thing. In fact the latter two are one and the same. At the time Wilsons wove this sett all dyes were still natural and so a high quality scarlet was the height of fashion. This shade was balanced by a dark navy (Wilsons’ purple) and a mid-green. The fashion has changed and today some people find these very bright red setts overpowering.
Thisc1800 example of the Prince's Own gives a good idea of Wilsons' shades used in the MacRae which they called Tartan of Ross at the time and is a good example of how patterns were only just beginning to be associated with a particular clan in the early 1800s.
