@Loxlie: As to the Spurs, I agree... Those would be a nightmare to have to integrate, Especially considering some of the rules I Have heard of in their regards. Heck its a problem even going for them in units like the 7th as I have heard that the Armored Units put the Non Armor Troops through the wringer to keep them from getting them. I don't know if its true, but that's what I was told when I found out we could get them, so I never bothered to pursue them. Pity really, Being able to represent Armor, Infantry, and Cavalry in one Uniform Combination would have been Cool. For the Record though As I Got the 9ths Belt Buckle, and I associated with the 7th for the Unit Crest so I had Two of the Three

I live at 4500 ft. altitude. The sun can be pretty intense and I wear the Stetson regularly, with or without the kilt.

I have a picture on a camera I've wanted to post since September, but I can't get it to down load to the computer. So,you'll just have to accept my description as true.
The pic is of the Town Marshall of Dodge City, Kansas in a kilt wearing a Stetson with a Gus crease, and very loud custom cowboy boots. His kilt in the Bailey tartan, he being a Bailey.

It looked odd, but also just right for one in his position. For a pony soldier wearing a hat in a style that was never really Army issue, the combination of Stetson and kilt would probably be OK. It's a lot like the fantasy combinations of garb worn by the steam punk crowd.

A dark blue shell jacket, or mess jacket would look well with the kilt and Stetson combo. I think if I were to wear a kilt and Stetson combo often I'd invest in a shell jacket.

As for me, I'd wear a 1898 hat if I were ever to go for this get-up. That's what Frederick Funston and the kick *** 20th Kansas wore. A newly made reproduction 1904 pattern would do.

Wear it if you feel good in it, though personally I'm not convinced about Stetson and Kilt combinations - even though the pink in the tartan matches the pink stetson.
