Well I'm only forty miles from Brandon. The optometrist I used to go to there was a Dr. McQueen, maybe he was a relative of yours.

Welcome, Gerond, from another Davidson. I live in British Columbia and Inverness-shire, but I had a great-uncle who lived in Carberry for a number of years.

Welcome, from Inverness-shire, but currently a bit South of that.

Given that pappy's (Arthur Sylvester, known as Art or Artie) family had three boys in his generation, and that uncle Percy (Arnold Percy McQueen) had two sons of his own, also Uncle Percy was in Dauphin in 1921, and passed in Gilbert Plains in 1939, it is possible the the optometrist is a distant relative. (The other brother, uncle Maurice, aka Mac, proper name Albert Maurice, lived here in the states pretty much since the 1920's until his death).

I farm north of Carberry not far from Neepawa, what was your great-uncle's name? There are three different Davidson families still around including mine. Carberry was named for Carberry Hill in Scotland by the way. In the 2006 census over 40% of people from Carberry listed Scottish heritage.
