Sadly Peter i am elsewhere at present so will not be attending. For me though, whilst I realise full well that 16th April 2016 is an event that many will mark at the battlefield, I prefer to attend and consider the event more quietly when the crowds have left.
That was a great post, Jock. I`m glad to see that the photos are still there.

    Great pics there.
Jock, some battlefields do have that feeling about them.
    Gettysburg has that too.

They will be doing an aerial Lidar scan of the battlefield to see if they can find any further remains or other artifacts from the battle.

It was an excellent day yesterday with well over 150 people attending. It wasn’t really appropriate to take lots of pictures but this give a flavour of the gathering of the clansmen.

There was a moving and thought provoking commemoration service, mostly in Gaelic which was entirely appropriate, a piobaireachd by Euan MacCrimmon, some of John Roy Stewart’s poetry and an excellent address by Dr. Hugh Cheape that dwelt on the aftermath of the Rising and effects on Highlanders and their culture.
