Out and About (A night at the Museum)
The wife and I were at an exhibit at the Univ. of Mississippi (Mary Buie) Museum for a book signing (biography) by Bruce Levingston on the art work of Marie Hull. I am standing beside one of the paintings my wife donated to the museum by Marie Hull. Ms. Hull was a family friend and taught my wife's father, along with Eudora Welty, during the 1950's. It was good to see old friends (art that used to live on our living room wall) and meet new faces.
Sticking to theme, I felt the placement of my tie tack (just above the vest, above the stripe of my tie but not too far into the solid red area) was the best point for the small adornment. Not showing are the beige hose, red flashes and brown Bass shoes included in my outfit. I'd heard the guest of honor was wearing a tux (he was) so I chose semi-formal to downplay my presence.

Any day is a good day to be kilted. Feel free to post new moments of your own while kilted.

Well done! I'm trying to hunt down a nice 6 button vest for myself...

Living near a college or university provides a better opportunity to find clothes from students with a wide variety of backgrounds, fashions and economic status. The thrift stores will carry a huge selection. I know you, like me, find the time to constantly hunt the racks a problem. Keep plugging away my friend. That is how I found this vest.

Will do...that is true. Every now and then it pays to be patient and thorough...but MAN is it excruciating

A good kit, Tarheel! I like the kilt pin, especially.

Thanks Jack. I wear two pins with this kilt. The top is Sterling with a Turquois stone shaped like a targe (shield). The second is Pewter and much heavier. Here they are together (before polishing). Each pin is two inch diameter.

I was out and about at a festival in Tupelo, MS tonight and decided to wear a kilt. I work in radio and was on stage to intro bands and the lady in charge wanted me to wear one to promote our Kilt Walk and Fun Run for Brain Tumor Awareness that's coming up in a few weeks. There were a few "skirt" remarks from my friends, but it was all in good fun. I did notice a few people sneaking pictures. One lady that listens to my show wanted a pic. Atleast she tagged me on Facebook so I could share with you guys...

It was a good night! Several people asked about the walk and I landed another sponsor!

Glad they coerced you from your "booth" and into the Sun. Dosen't matter if you were at the Bioblitz on the Trace or the Film festival at the Malco, looks and sounds like a fun time. I'll still see you on May 7th. at Ballard park.
I've been known to arrive early. I'll be the clean shaven, old guy in the same red kilt shown in this thread.
