Kilted judge, on "Forged in Fire."

Does anybody watch History Channel's "Forged in Fire?" It's a competition show, where blacksmiths forge weapons, which are then judged, and tested. There are three judges, who test the contestant's blades, for strength, and ability to cut/slice/hack. Anyway, did anyone see the episode, where they challenged the contestants, to forge a Scottish claymore? forged in fire.jpe The judge in the photo, on the right, was wearing a kilt, for that particular episode. (I couldn't find a kilted photo of him).

Yes, I've seen that episode, and was happy to see him in a kilt. It was appropriate for the Scottish Claymore episode!

I was wondering if anyone was going to mention this program. David Baker was dressed respectably but needs to learn how to sit in a kilt, IMO!

Disappointing that both of the weapons failed miserably, though. I was looking forward to seeing what one of those things could do!

    You're right

I know...one claymore bent, the other was brittle, and broke.

We made a kilt for someone who told us he was going to be on that show about 6 months ago. Unfortunately, I don't remember his name (don't know whether it was a judge or contestant), but he did tell us how excited he was to receive the kilt. If it WAS the guy in that episode, I hope he wore it well!

Rocky, that must be him then.

While there's no picture of him in the kilt. It can be seen briefly on YouTube.

    utilikilt smithing

Just watched an episode of forged in fire with one
of the contestants wearing utilikilts. Looked pretty good on
him. Not a fan of utilikilts but gotta say I may rethink that position after seeing one in action.

    Claymore Round Two

David was again kilted up for the "Champion of Champions" round which aired this week. The two former winners had to forge claymores with much better results this time. It was scary and awesome to see a sword cleave right through a carcass without even slowing down!

Yeah, Paul, wasn't that remarkable? An entire, dressed pig carcass, suspended from a hook and that claymore sliced cleanly through without slowing down. As the one judge says, 'this will kill.' Both claymores were very nicely crafted and pretty to look at, plus the blades were well crafted. The winner was a 40 inch long damascus blade. The pattern was a braided damascus. Very nice.

Caution gentlemen; this is not the weapons subforum so let's stick to the kilt in the media, not the claymore in use.
