    Hello from Syracuse

    Howdy,

I've been reading these boards for the better part of a year, probably, and though I don't typically have anything to add, but I thoroughly enjoy reading through conversations on that topic which grows ever-dearer to my heart: kilting. In particular, I'm fond of the Kilted Fridays thread--an activity I participated in this past week, myself.

I'm a Scot on both my father's and mother's side--both my father's parents are children of Scot men and women, from the Knight and MacNaughton families, at the least. My interest sort of grew from there, looking at tartans that may (or may not; who knows, the way everything is marketed for retail online) represent my families, to wanting one to connect with that heritage, to purchasing my first SportKilt (and then a handful more). My little hobby even curried interest amongst my younger brothers and a few friends, who now wear the kilt for reasons all their own.

Outside of donning a manly skirt for pleasure and breeze, I'm an ELA teacher, specifically of the 7th grade, a job that I've fallen in love with. I have not found the occasion (by which I mean courage) to don the kilt at work, though my administrator did affirm that it was perfectly acceptable, so long as "everything was covered." I'm thinking I will on the final day of school--one day before my wife and I actually leave for a 10-day vacation in Scotland and England. I'm debating bringing one of my kilts with me for the trip.

Oh. I like science-fiction, comic books, and hiking.

So, that's me. I'll go back to reading quietly now!
