My buddy Sean snapped a pic of me piping today at our monthly Veterans Ceremony put on by the American Legion, the American Legion Riders, Korean War Veterans, and VFW. It was a great day, and I met some young boys who asked about the kilt. One of them had a Scottish name, so I explained the family tartan tradition.

    Kilted Fridays Adventures

Went to a local book store today and was approached by a gentleman asking if my kilt was Scottish or Irish. I told him it was USMC. (USMC by USA kilt, khaki shirt and royal blue hose) Later while gassing up the SUV was asked what clan did my kilt represent. Same response USMC. Said he did not know the Marine's had a tartan, thought it was great they had one. Also went to my favorite Italian restaurant tonight where my Cajun waiter asked about my kilt. Not the first time to see me in a kilt. Said he was going to get one, so I gave him the USA Kilt website. Can't wait to see if he does and wears it to work.

The only way I can have a "Kilted Friday" is if I took the day off from work..being that as it may, I decided to don the kilt today to do our errands. Had breakfast with the wife, and then went grocery shopping. My wife gets a kick out of seeing people wanting to stare but trying to look like they aren't staring. We were still in the parking lot when I got the first comment from a gentleman in a truck..I thanked him and we went inside. For the most part, people will take note of the kilt, but not too many approach me. While in an aisle looking for someone, I was approached by an older lady that asked me if there were any games going on today. I replied no, I just wanted to wear a kilt today. She smiled and showed me a tattoo of the Clan Gunn badge on her arm. She told me that I looked great and that she wished that more american men would embrace their Scottish heritage.

We're celebrating my oldest's 18th birthday later and going to the local speedway..should be fun!!

For my Kilted Friday I wore my Wildcat tartan Kingussie kilt crafted by our TartanHiker.
Received a number of Kudos at work and at day's end celebrated the weekend by going to my local PLT.

    How about a kilted Monday.

Our Kilt Walk and Fun Run for Brain Tumor Awareness is coming up Saturday so I had some work to do today. First I did my radio show, Then headed to the local TV station for an interview on their noon show. Followed by a trip to the local newspaper for photos and an interview. I then had to go to a doctors office to drop off some posters for the event. that's when it finally happened. An older gentleman said he like my skirt. He wasn't being mean, I think he just couldn't come up with the word KILT. We exchanged pleasantries and then he asked why I was wearing it. I told him about the event and he got serious, almost to the point of a tear, and said his sister is having brain surgery tomorrow morning and he thanked me for doing the walk. That made the busy day well worth it.

Nothing exciting to report for kilted Friday, but it was a beautiful day here today, so it was a burgundy company polo shirt and charcoal hose with the kilt. I even managed to get off early to start my weekend. Hope all of you have a great weekend!
