    A phobia for us

Regularly here we read of the favorable comments oft receive by fellows togged in tartan. But from time to time there are tales of woe telling of times when men in plaid are taunted and scorned by those inclined to skirt the issue.

    ENOUGH!!

Let's take a page from the handbook for the slighted and find a devastating way to air our pique. Let's arm ourselves with a shocking and awing epithet to hurl like atomic hand grenades at any who dare disdained us. I offer for your consideration Scotiaphobia, an irrational fear of things Scottish -- but especially kilts. (Okay, maybe haggis too.) Henceforth when met by aspersions cast in breath or text by cads clad in jeans, bib overalls or clown pants with great fervor cry out SCOTIAPHOBIA!!!

Let Scotiaphobics cringe at our hue. Steeled by a phobia of our own we few, the killed few can conquer all.

I'm not mentioning any names but someone sounds a little loopy this morning.

I don't know, I kind of like it! In this world where some move from polite right through politically correct to idiotic, it might be fun to call them on their wildness in the wilderness.

My wife manicures beside me as I read. I find a comparison to Jock's and Benning Boy's comments to her emery board (a finer quality brand). There is a slightly course side and buffing side. It is a practical tool, discrete, carried daily and used when wanted or needed. She shapes her nails with one side and polishes with the other. When finished, she has the refinement and style she desires.

There are a lot of Werewolf-ish Americans that Benning Boy is referring to that ignore grooming their attitudes or claws. His approach is the "Silver Bullet" where Jock's idea (seems to me) is to provide treatment to the Lycanthrope that contracted Scotiaphobia. Good luck to us all in this quest.

    Can dead people do that?

Tarheel - you, being Southern, already have a retort with a venerable cultural heritage behind it: "Bless your heart".

Dang, my tablet seems to have a mind of its own. I changed the spelling of killed to kilted a few times, but it must have sneaked one last change in on me. I should only post from the desk top computer where I have more control. I hope you know what I meant. We're not killed.

Actually Creag, you did not miss much. I was trying to be a tad humorous in a mischievous sort of way, but on reflection, perhaps my post was rather too contentious and at the moment I can do with a quiet life, so I had hoped that I might have deleted the whole thing, before anyone read it.

Wow! This got interesting quick. As Greag points out, it is a "Bless my heart" moment.

That said, I do not discount either approach (humorous or not) as a way to deal with being kilted in public and confronted by a hostile force.

As far as phobias, the wife has jumped from a moving vehicle to escape a spider, killed an ATM machine with bug spray (logged on film by the bank) and broken bones on furniture fleeing spiders. After years of therapy, she now squeaks, stomps and cries that she is the giant. She finishes shaking and hyperventilating after a while.
