Just a reminder
The Tuesday kilt night is on again tonight in Sunnyvale. Also, we found a great Bavarian restaurant around the corner that serves traditional German food (saurbraten, shnitzel, etc.) and has some great beers including dopple bock wheat beers.

I'm still keeping the Tuesday thing going. The cafe used to have live music. I'm hoping we can get enough people showing up every week to give them reason to start that up again.

Seems to me I remember another weekly kilt night at a pub in the bay area. Maybe someone else has more knowledge about it. I believe it was an English pub, and it was on Thursdays.

I've not heard anything about that. Let me know if you find the details.

Colin and Rigged,
The pub you are looking for is 'The King's Head' in Campbell.

There is a Celtic evening every Thursday, and men who wear tartan get a dollar off the price of drinks. When you are in the web site, click on 'Celtic' to find out more.
I visited the pub about a year ago, but not on a Thursday. I only discovered about the Celtic evening when I got back to the UK and found their web site. Some friends who live in Palo Alto (non kilt wearers) have since told me that they have been there on a Thursday night, and that there was Celtic music being played and a fair number of kilted men were present.
Give it a try. I hope it is as good as it sounds.

Sunnyvale?
Try to hold it in the daytime is my only advice. And stay away from the high school!

Well, I figure most folks work during the day. The high school is way down the road, but I don't understand why that's an issue.
The main reason for having the gathering at a coffee shop is so that people can bring their families and so that folks who aren't old enough to be in bars (or just don't like the bar scene) can have a public non-event place to wear the kilt.
I picked Tuesday nights because it's a night when most folks don't have activities planned and also because there's a Wednesday night gathering of Rangers from the Burning Man project that I didn't want to conflict with (Poet and Patriot bar in Santa Cruz).
Anyway, I'm at the Coffee and More shop every Tuesday evening. The staff (comely lasses, if I may say so) are hoping to see more kilted guys about the place.

Sorry, Rigged, it was just a really bad Sunnyvale/Sunnydale type of Buffy joke.
I hope all works out well for these gatherings.

Ah! Buffy! And I thought I went to a rough high school.
I live pretty near Santa Cruz where the vampire film "The Lost Boys" (starring Keifer Sutherland) was filmed (good vampire movie -- I'll have to have Sherri add it to our Netflix list).
I eat enough garlic to be poisonous to any vampire.
